/ The Brief
Appointed by Russell WHBO, Hurst was commissioned to manufacture and install various bespoke joinery elements for a £45 million heritage refurbishment project. The project involved the transformation of the Grade II listed Municipal Building in Liverpool, originally serving as local council offices, into a luxury four-star hotel for international hotel operator Fragrance Group.
The client had specific requirements for high-end joinery elements in multiple reception areas and Spa treatment rooms, which encompassed architraves, feature panelling, library shelving, reception desks, tables, and distinctive focal points like the tall bar and banquette seating for the Botanic Tea Room. The primary challenge was to seamlessly integrate these new joinery elements with the original building’s historic features, preserving its timeless charm.
